Under the auspices of the Bridge Section, the British Charitable Fund is organising a Fundraising bridge tournament at the Club on Thursday, June 1st.
The BCF was founded in 1823, and for nearly 200 years has been supporting Brits living in France who have financial problems, by giving them cash grants. We currently distribute over €250.000 per year to almost 150 people in about 100 households. A monthly grant is in the range €100 and €500 depending on circumstances. Grants are financed from donations, interest, and our reserves. In the current post-Brexit and economic climate in France, we are currently using about €100.000 of our capital per year. So the need to increase donations is essential if the BCF wishes to continue to support the British community for a further two hundred years.
You will also find attached a poster describing the event; please use it to encourage as many as possible of your bridge-playing friends to participate.
