The SAC Junior Cricket Team travelled to Morangis for a 7-a-side tournament last Saturday, 2nd June. The format was innovative: teams of 7 bowl one over each, bringing a quick turnover between games and nowhere to hide for directionally challenged bowlers as each wide counted for three runs.

In their first game SAC lost by just 13 runs chasing an improbable 83: on debut for the club Alex made 29 not out, and along with Arthur batted the entire six overs.

The second game was a rout, with SAC chasing down a small score in half their overs after a hat-trick from Louis-Gabriel.

This meant that the final was a rematch of the first game: Joe bowled a tight first over and when Alex dismissed the local team's star player in the fifth the travelling supporters went wild. With the aid of supporting hands from Joe and Gus, Alex got SAC to the last over needing 17, but the over was to be bowled by LFP's best player.

This proved just too much and amidst much excitement, LFP Morangis were crowned worthy winners. There were commiserations for the gallant Alex, who was named player of the tournament for his performances with both bat and ball.
