SAC U-9s & U-13s vs Vésinet Sport Club International Juniors: Narrow advantage went to the home camp

The SAC's junior soccer teams took on their Under-9 and Under-13 counterparts from Vésinet in another pair of simultaneous matches ahead of the adults' encounter last Sunday. Vésinet were out for revenge after the drubbing they took in last year's matches and came away with one victory out of four games played. Our U-13s proved too strong while the U-9s had to fight hard to hold their ground.

Both age-groups played a full match followed by a second shorter game in some glorious autumn weather. The U-9s toughed out a hard-fought 1-1 draw in their main match, before succumbing 1-4 in the second game. Honourable mentions to Liom Mandy, Jules Moreau, Augustin Thieullant, Thomas Colet and Xander Lecomte.

The U-13s had an easier time of it, with four stunning goals from Tristan De L'Hermite, Victor Moreau, Samuel Mangasarian and guest-player Elias Appert. The 4-0 victory was hard work all the same, with typically cool, calm and collected work by keeper Rhys Parkin and energetic defending led by Alexander Curtin ensuring that SAC kept a clean sheet. The U-13s second match finished 1-1, followed by a nerve-wracking penalty shoot-out marked by some spectacular saves by second goal-keeper Luc Wisman who also scored as SAC won 9-6.

VSCI's children will be back in February for a return match at the SAC.
