SAC Junior Football: U-13s and U-11s triumphed again in tough matches against British School. The club's magnificent young lads in red and black came out on top in two hard-fought matches against the British School last Saturday.
The club's magnificent young lads in red and black came up on top in two hard-fought matches at home against the British School last Saturday. The U-11s - fielding a 16-strong squad - resisted a determined comeback by the visitors to win 4-2 after being initially 3-0 up, thanks to the goal-scoring left boot of Xander Lecomte, good work in midfield by Liam Mandy and in goal by Jules Maurey. Playing conditions weren't easy in the thick spring grass despite the sunny weather as the U-13s (victory 2-1) found too. The older boys started sluggishly and after 10 minutes founds themselves a goal down as goalkeeper Luc Wisman got a touch on a lobbed shot but not enough to tip it over the crossbar. SAC regrouped, our passing improved and led to two goals in quick succession from Alexandre Marois and Sam Mangaserian. SAC held on to their lead in the second half in large part due to crucial saves by second-half goalkeeper Rhys Parkin as the British School kept up the pressure.
Thanks to all the parents who turned out to support, to guest referees Ed Lecomte and Greg Viscusi, Gerald Strouts for his organisational brilliance, and of course to Eric Lelong, head coach, not forgetting Mario and staff for the tea. The boys' next fixture is scheduled for the morning of Saturday 6th April at the British School - so parents please respond to Gerald's email about availability, both players and transport.
