The members of one of the Club's more relaxed sections, the Bridge Section, can be found battling it out on the lawns, under the trees, and even occasionally in the bridge room.

The “bridgers” were given a room of their own when the clubhouse extension was officially opened by the Queen in 1972.

Bridge tournament

Afternoon tournaments, followed by a delicious “buffet campagnard”, are held monthly from September to June, for members and guests. The hands are usually prepared on a specific theme, for which a quiz is sent out prior to the day of the tournament and corrected before the commencement of play. Rubber bridge is very popular with players who wish to get together for a friendly game, at the weekend or during the week. Non-official tournaments are organised by members on Monday afternoons for the less competitive players. The Section has fielded one team this year in an Interclub competition organised by the Hurepoix Committee of the French Bridge Federation (FFB) with matches at home and away. The SAC team qualified for the Committee Final and finished in a very honourable 4th place out of 16 teams. An excellent performance!
Lessons for a group of beginners was initiated last year and a monthly afternoon workshop will be taking place in March for the 1st time since the pandemic for those players looking to progress.
