On Sunday, the 2nd of June, SACC hosted Aulnay CC for a 40-over game.

After losing the toss again and asked to bowl first again, SAC took the field with its new members Shan & Sarvan as part of the playing XI.

Aulnay CC got off to an exceptional start, the likes of which we rarely get to see at the Standard, with an opening partnership of 100 in 10 overs. One of their opening bats getting to his individual 50 in the 7th over itself. He eventually got out by a catch taken by Rich Parkins on the bowling of Haji in the 11th over.

What followed in the next 10 overs was a stark contrast to the first 10, as the SAC bowlers, namely Sarvan, Money, & Haji, who bowled tight lines to give away only 17 more runs. Aulnay CC were 117/2 at the 20-overs Drinks break.

After Drinks, Aulnay CC kept losing wickets at regular intervals without a substantial partnership. Their No.4 bat made a solid 50 to steer Aulnay CC to 255 all out. Sarvan was the best Bowler for the SAC with 4 wickets; exemplary bowling with the right mix of speed & guile.

In the chase, Shan opening for the SAC for the first time as a member got us off to a solid start, along with Chris McCarthy, who, batting at No.3, played foil in their partnership.
Both players set a solid platform for the Big Hitters to follow down the order. Unfortunately, after Shan, who made a boundary laced 41, was dismissed all of the remaining Bats misfired and the task of chasing 255 turned more improbable with every passing over. The SAC eventually were all out for 170, losing the game by 85 runs.

Chris McCarthy (31) played right through the SAC innings as he walked into bat with the fall of the first wicket on the 1st ball of the innings & dismissed on the penultimate ball of the innings.
