On Sunday 23rd June the SAC took on PUC in a 40-over game. Captain Shakeel won the toss and decided to bat, but the SAC was soon one wicket down within the first over. Shan and Henry managed to steady the ship with a 50 run stand before Henry was caught behind for 19 and Dilip swiftly followed for 3. Shan and Jubaid then went on to forge another 50 run partnership before both being caught for 36 and 57 respectively. With the score at 112 for 4 Gaurav, the Match Manager for the day, alongside Tariq began to rebuild the innings manoeuvring the ball into the spaces nicely and running well between the wickets. After both were caught for 16 and 12 respectively SAC’s tail wagged in the form of Shakeel and Moni. Both players played the straight ball sensibly and punished anything slightly wide or short before Shakeel was bowled for 22 leaving Moni unbeaten on 31. 229 runs were required for PUC to win.

In reply PUC reached 194 for their 40 overs with Moni taking 3 wickets for 25 runs, Shakeel 2 wickets for 26 runs and Pushpendra, Jubaid and Henry all taking one wicket each. A solid display from the SAC team in all departments leading to a convincing victory in the end, all of which bodes well for next Saturday’s twenty-twenty against the Australians and Sunday’s 40-over clash against Chantilly Cricket Club.
