The SAC Cricket Section produces a financial report each year, detailing all direct Section revenues and costs. (Revenues from full Members, as well as shared grounds costs, are not included here, but rather show up in the overall Club accounts))

Revenues: For 2023 revenues were €9.2K, made up of One Sport subscriptions, plus the match-fees (€10 per SAC and opposition player) which are paid for each match, plus junior subscriptions from the active junior coaching program, run by volunteers.

Costs, primarily for teas, were €3.2K

The Section therefore generated a €6K cash surplus for the year. We estimate asset depreciation (cricket synthetic pitch, the 50% of the pavilion used by the Section, white sight screen, scoreboard, etc.) at €3.3K for 2023, meaning an accounting surplus after depreciation of €2.7K.

The full (Powerpoint) report is available Articles/Cricket/20241022_SACC Financials 2023_FINAL.pptx

The old cricket pavilion is of particular historical interest, having been built by the British Army Royal Corps of Engineers in 1944 as a makeshift Clubhouse, following the demolition of our old structure by the retreating German troops. This building sat on the foundation of the current Clubhouse until it was moved in 1956, as the Clubhouse was reconstructed. This pavilion was in a parlous state in 2019. The Section has been working with the Club MC to manage its renovation since then:

  • 2019 new roof
  • 2020/2021 removal of “lean-to” which had been erected on the rear, funnelling water against the old beams and siding, causing major damage.
  • 2021, replacement of rotten beams
  • 2022/2023, new windows and protective screens,  plus repair of wooden cladding on 3 sides of the building. One small part of the building is still inaccessible (and deteriorating) due to the shipping container which was placed there in 2014.
  • 2024, the beginning of interior renovation (new insulation and ceiling)

We hope to relocate the container over the winter to complete the renovation of the exterior structure in early 2025.
