Squash: Another victory for Team 1 who won 3/2 at home against Squash 95 and remain 3rd in the league. But a tough night for Team 2 who lost 5/0 at Stade Français, one of the best team in the league.
What's been going on
Our Junior Footballers, U11s and U13s, had a great time last Saturday and inflicted a double defeat on the visitors from the British School in a splendid afternoon of good-spirited sporting competition.
The Squash Section
held its annual Tournament
last Saturday. 13 members took part and all had 3 or 4 better-of-2 game matches. The semi-finals pitted Lee Beaves against Nicolas Rosset and Aurélien Prière against Alec Maurey. Alec and Nicolas made it through to the final and, after an exciting match, Alec emerged the winner 2/1! Congratulations Alec!
Last Sunday the adult Footballers played against the FIFFA and won 2-1, with Ignacio Aguirre and Mikael Jayet scoring goals.
The Snooker Tournament is progressing slowly but surely - though there are two first-round singles matches yet to be played. In the Open Singles, David Colson and Roland Tchertoff both won their matches to move into the quarter-finals. In Open Doubles, Dougie Anderson and Emmanuel Bertrand beat James Moore and James Webb. (There are two first-round singles matches yet to be played.)
What's coming this weekend and after
Yoga and Fitness are still running on full schedule until the school hols.
The Centenary Oak continues with a full weekend food offering starting on Saturday with croissants at 11 followed by lunch (Entrecote and fries) and the Sunday Brunch special will be homemade chicken curry and rice.
6 Nations Rugby will be showing on the big screen on Saturday and Sunday and plates of Charcuterie and Cheese will be served, but please order in advance at the bar or by calling the Club at 0146261609.
If you are still thinking of attending the President's Dinner on Saturday evening but haven't yet booked, there's an outside chance that there may be some places still available, phone Mario to check.
On Sunday morning the Footballers will be in action against 'Les Italiens'.
Ladies Tennis: we are enrolling the 2019 ALT’s and Raquettes teams this month. If you are interested in playing in either team please get in touch with Sally Cangardel or Marie de Tilly (ALT’s) or Gigi Cothier (Raquettes) for further information.
Note that there's a Bridge Workshop next Friday the 15th of February.
The school holidays are looming at the end of the month and what better way to keep the children occupied that for them to attend a squash camp?

Jenny Pratt is investigating the possibility of organising an initial series of lessons for complete or near-complete beginners. She would need to know how many people would be interested and what their availability would be - probably early evening from, say, 6.30/7 pm to 9 pm would suit both those who work as well as those who do not. The Search is still on for a volunteer Newsletter Editor!
The Club Management is looking for a News Editor whose responsibility is to compile the weekly newsletter from the input provided by Management, Staff, the Section heads and members. The News Editor should be fluent in English, preferably a native speaker. The time commitment needed is a few hours a week. The management would hope for a long-term commitment to the post from the volunteer. Please contact Matthew Curtin () if you're interested.

Internal Tournament - Saturday 2nd February
13 SAC Squash Section members gathered last Saturday 2nd for their annual Internal Tournament. Alec Maurey emerging victorious 2/1 over Nicolas Rosset in an exciting final.

Warmest congratulations to Guy and Didier, 1st in NS with 63.75%, and to Sally and Pat, 1st in EW with 56.67%. 2nd in NS - Joyce and Claude with 56.25% and in EW Nicole and Jane with 55.42%.

The SAC has been invited to enter an U15 and/or U13 team in the upcoming indoor cricket tournament at Morangis on 2nd March. The format will be the same as the very successful tournaments they have organised over the last few years. If your child would like to play please write asap to .
A St. Patrick's Day celebration to be held at the club on 23rd March. We will have live Irish music, Irish dancing, food and much merriment.
