Getting involved with the Club
As an Association 1901, the Club is self-governing and not-for-profit. If we think something is not right, we can each get involved an “fix it”. This role of volunteers has been even more important since Covid. To give a sense of the impact we can each have:
- Pre-Covid, the Club had an operating budget of over €1 million (over €1.2 million in today’s €s), with a full time Manager and Events Manager.
- In 2025 we will spend €720 thousand, or 40% less in real terms.
- This has allowed the Club to free up the funds to invest in our facilities (tennis courts, pool, basketball court, kids’ playground, general “look and feel”)
- … and also pay down the debt we had as we re-opened from Covid.
- Volunteer efforts, and the 2024 operating levy, have meant that we have also been able to
- Get the Bar and Restaurant back to pre-Covid activity levels (first Astrid, now Isabelle, …)
- Have a level of activity for kids not seen for many years (Sarah and team)
- Run our own internal events (Rasmus and team)
Getting involved in the Club, in whatever way works for each of us, can be enormously satisfying and make a massive difference.
One way to do this is through the Management Committee. 3 Members of the MC will not be standing this year as their mandates expire. There will therefore be openings for:
- One Vice-President
- 2 Elected Members
Sign up ends at 6 pm today. If you would be interested in getting involved, please sign up on the notice boards in the Club.
