Girish Dharmapurikar stepped down as Junior Cricket Coach in June 2023. Andrew Macintyre returned temporarily and will be replaced by existing junior parent Adhavan Manoranjan. Thanks to Grisih for the past 3 and a half years and to Andrew for stepping up during his well-earned retirement.

The Management Team is delighted to welcome Carole, who has joined us with responsibility for the Bar and Restaurant, while also helping out with Member Services. We have asked Carole to focus on increasing the service level provided to Members, while increasing the level of social activity in the Club. In her Bar and Restaurant role she will be working with Isabelle and Taha.
Carole has over 30 years of work experience, in France and the United States. In her most recent role, she managed the Facilities/General Services for a global advertising company in France. Carole originally trained as a photographer and is bilingual in English and French, with some Spanish. She lives in Meudon.
Please join me in reserving the very warmest of SAC welcomes for Carole, and extending her every courtesy and support and she gets to grips with the many dimensions of her new role.

The pool discussion one is of fundamental importance for the Club. The meeting will be held in-person at the Club, beginning at 3 p.m. on Sunday 21 January. There will also be a Zoom connection, though we would recommend in-person presence if possible.

In the end there were 28 bridgers, who had great fun on the bridge tables, plus 10 who came for dinner. Thanks to their generous donations € 3.530 were raised, which is very nice addition to BCF funds.
Congratulations to the winners Mary and Remy Cauchard in North-South and Guerin and Leon Goldstein in East-West.
SAC pulled off a second successive victory last Sunday in a typically physical encounter with the Kerala Tuskers, edging the visitors out 3-2.
Fielding a strong team, SAC dominated large periods of play and might have put more goals into the net with more accurate finishing.
Sunday’s win followed a more emphatic 6-3 victory against the Pascal Gastebois XI the previous Sunday. The two sides were evenly matched until early in the second half, before SAC ran away with the game. More details in the main article.
SAC take on La Salernitana this Sunday 3 December, with kick-off at 10:30.
On Saturday 21 we hosted the Salts Staff Football Club (SSFC), a group of teachers from the Titus Salt School of Baildon, West Yorkshire. The game was drawn 2-2 in weather that was not ideal for spectators! See some team photos in the main article.

It is with great sadness that we inform you that Mollie Willatts died on Thursday last week on her 92nd birthday.
Mollie was an active member of the Club, including a hard-working stint as Membership Secretary before the introduction of computers! She and her husband John were regular participants in the golf section and their daughters were active in many sports as juniors.
Mollie is survived by her husband, John and their three daughters Lisa, Sophie and Sarah, to whom we send our sincere condolences.
Her funeral will take place on Monday 13 November at 3 pm in the Crematorium du Mont Valérien in Nanterre.

The winner of the Autumn Vase for the best Nett score was Bertrand Delacroix with 41 points. The best Gross score was made by Dimitri Ansart with 37 points.

We had 8 full tables for the tournament, so warmest congratulations go to the big winners - in EW - Noelle and Raphael - with 68.75% and in NS - Jean and Gerard - with 64.29%! 2nd in EW - Ann and John with 60.12% and in NS - Remy and Marc with 53.87%.The full results are attached to the main article.

The next tournament will be at 2:30 p.m. on Tuesday, 14 November. A quiz on the "Forcing 4th suit" is attached to the main article, which will be reviewed at 2 p.m. as usual before the tournament proper. There will be a little cocktail afterwards, for which there will be a small charge of 5€.

This tournament also was part of an FFB nationwide one with 1087 participating pairs. Using the FFB's scoring, our big winners were Ghislaine and Nicole (Doyle) with 61.36% in NS and Raphael and Max with 59.17% in EW. 2nd in NS, Nicole (Devaux) and Jean-Paul with 54.9% and in EW Christine (Clement) and Jean (de Catelin) with 53.92%. If you would like to submit motions to be discussed or nominations to the Committee, please get them seconded by another member. Please feel free to volunteer if you feel you can contribute in any way to the running of the Section.
Congratulations to Elise and Anne, 1st in NS with 73%, and Marie-Claire and Edith, 1st in EW with 62.35%. 2nd in NS, Ghislaine and Raphael, who did not benefit at all from the handicap, with 63%, and in EW Jane and Genevieve with 59.42%.

On Monday the SAC Interclub team, captained by Jane Brooks, had a great win against Chaville scoring 18.56 (out of a maximum of 20) - an excellent start to their season in Division 4!
