Coronavirus: COVID-19 latest

Following the announcement by the French government on Monday 5 October, bars, indoor sporting facilities and multi-purpose rooms should be closed as of Tuesday 6 October for 2 weeks.
Only outdoor facilities or activities for children may remain open.
At the Standard Athletic Club, we will keep the main entrance open to access the tennis court but the bar will be closed. The clubhouse will remain open but members are requested to respect the Government Recommendations.
Every person entering the club should use their badge on the entrance door to allow tracking.

No more than six persons at a table.
Wear a mask at all times, indoors and outdoors.
The changing rooms are temporarily closed.
Respect the maximum number of people allowed in the clubhouse - 30.
Respect the ‘gestes barrières’ and social distancing.
In general, the Government has requested that people limit their movements to the strict minimum, we hope that members will take this into account.

Cricket News - New season approaching

A new season is almost upon us. Our team consists of full and seasonal members of the Club. Full members will already have paid this year's subs. The Section's activities are financed through seasonal memberships and match dues (€10 per home fixture) with all our funds reinvested in cricket at the Standard. For Seasonal Membership, the application form is attached to the main article. The price this year is €410 Including your own SACC whites, available in all sizes. For those wishing to pay early, there is an "early-bird" discount price of €375 for the season, available for memberships paid before 30th April 2020.  

Golf News - Section Competition Saturday 14th

Last Saturday's Section Competition was a Scramble 'à la française' (player of the selected ball doesn't play that shot). The winning team was S. Hall + J. Delacroix+ D. Colson + R. Bouloux with 43 points
Golf courses are closed so golfers will have to go back to those winter activities of carpet putting and chipping into the sofa (preferably with plastic balls!)

Golf Clubs Open

Yes, golfers are now free to chase that little ball around the countryside. Villarceaux in particular for our Section Members, but also other local courses such as Feucherolles, Noisy, Haras Lupin, and Jardy are also opening shortly if not today. 

Squash News - Thursday 5 March

Team 1 won 5:0 against IBM (missing one player) on Thursday evening, with Aurélien, Charles, Nico and Sean all winning their matches (3:2, 3:0, 3:2, 3:0). Kia Kaha Team SAC!.

Squash News - Courts closed from Monday, but Junior Lessons possible this Saturday

After the health minister’s announcement, the Squash Federation has issued a statement that will affect squash from next week. Squash courts will be closed for a period of at least two weeks from Monday 28 September. However, coach Roland is OK to go ahead with the coaching as previously agreed for the start of the season, provided the parents agree. More details in the main article

Bridge News - Dinner/Tournament 3 March results

Winners of Tuesday night's tournament were: 1st in North-South: Remy and Alain with 65.79%; and 1st in East-West: Jeanne and Monica also with the superb score of 64.06%. 2nd in NS were Mary and Ghislaine with 56.56% and Jenny and Pat n EW who scored 54.89%. Read on for more details. Please note the date of the next Workshop - on Friday 27 March and the next dinner and tournament on Tuesday 31 March are cancelled!!

Golf News - Sue Hall Cup

The Golf Section is pleased to announce a new trophy, the Sue Hall Cup. The cumulative score of all the results of each of your section competitions will be taken into account for the new Sue Hall Cup. This cup will reward the best achiever as well as the commitment to participation in the competitions.

Squash News - Thursday (27/2) Matches

A win and a loss for our Teams on Thursday evening. Team 1 beat Oxygène 3, 4-1, and even better the team has now secured the top place in the pool and therefore a place in the 2nd division next year. Team 2 had a close match but unfortunately lost 3-2 against Altiplano St Cloud. Read on for a Team 1 photo.

Snooker 2019/2020 Tournament News - 27 February

Open SinglesRoland Tchertoff won his match against Andrew Taylor in two straight frames. Open Doubles: Saturday: Didier Perrin & Philippe Ayme Jouve are playing Thomas & Simon Lavigne, and on Sunday, John Goodhardt & David Colson are playing their match against Jean-Paul Ruzé & Lucien Jourdan.

Snooker 2019/2020 Tournament News - 5 March

Open Doubles: Didier Perrin & Philippe Ayme Jouve got a walkover Thomas & Simon Lavigne, who scratched and will be Phillippe and Didier will be playing against Benjamin and Michael in the next round.

Bridge News (19/2) - Workshop Fri 28 Feb, Dinner/Tournament 3 March

The next Workshop is on Friday 28 February, beginning at 10.30 with a short lesson on the Landy convention - but just the 2 Club bid promising 5-5 or 5-4 in the majors and used after a 1NT opening by the opponent (see the attached quiz). At 11.15 there will be a BCSH "Souplesse" tournament whose theme is the Landy convention. Please also note that the next dinner/tournament is the following week on Tuesday 3 March.

Snooker 2019/2020 Tournament News - 11 Feb

Open Singles progress: Roland Tchertoff won his match against James Gardner in two straight frames. In the Open Doubles Andrew Taylor and Roland Tchertoff won their match against James Moore and James Webb again in two straight frames. 

Squash News - Thursday (6/2) Matches

Both Teams 1 and 2 won their matches on Thursday night. Team 1 playing away beat Stade Français 2 4-1 and thereby have virtually secured their place in 2nd Division next year. Team 2 beat Oxygène at home 3-2.  "Thanks to Emil's crazy balls", according to the captain, Jean.  Read on for a photo of Team 1.

Bridge Tournament Tuesday 4 February

Warm congratulations to the two pairs who tied for 1st place in North-South - Jane & Françoise and Claude & Dougie with 57.5%. 1st in East-West were Joyce and Jenny with 56.88%, but with only a tiny margin over Nicole and Jean-Paul who scored 56.25%! Don't forget the Workshop on Friday 28th and the next dinner/tournament on Tuesday 3 March.
