Friday Night Social Tennis - 5:30 pm on Fridays
🎾Friday from 5:30 pm onwards. No need to reserve, just turn up and play. Any level, any age! Drinks on the terrace afterwards - weather permitting!

500 years of German songs - 7 pm, Friday 5 April
You are invited to come and listen to the Anglo-American choral group "Les Arts George V Flying Fishes Ensemble" who will be singing German songs from Isaac to Brahms, directed by Lewis Hammond. Starts at 7 pm, Pot luck dinner to follow - bring along a "sucré/salé dish to share"; the bar stays open late. Members are free, non-members €10.

Bar and Restaurant - Janine's menu Saturday 6 April
Saturday Mains: Chicken satay skewers with stir-fry vegetables, rice and peanut sauce, Vegetable skewers. Pastries: Sour cream Apple cake, Tangerine cake, Brownies, Lemon poppyseed loaf, Carrot cake cupcakes. Sunday's menu is Janine's "Full English Breakfast".

Calendar of Sports Events on the big screen in Queen's Room
In April, the following events will be shown on the big screen: April 6 (Saturday): Football match between Manchester United and Liverpool at 4 p.m. April 30 (Tuesday): Champions League semi-final (Evening before the 1 May Fête du Travail)

Pilates and Step & Sculpt during holidays
Next week, from 8 through 13 April, there will be classes, but on a holiday schedule, so please confirm with Pam. The schedule for the second week has yet to be confirmed. Wednesdays: Zoom Pilates 9:30; SAC 2:30 pm Pilates Mat - Beginner/Intermediate. Saturdays: 9:45 Pilates Mat; 11:00 Pilates Mat Intermediate/Advanced. 12:30 Step.

Monica is around during the holidays and next Thursday (11th) at 9 am is confirmed. For the other classes please pay attention to your WhatsApp messages. Bridge News - Next tournament: Tuesday, 23 April at 2:30 pm
The next tournament will be at 2:30 p.m. on Tuesday, 23 April. We could start off at 2.00 pm by going through a quiz - this time about "Showing the fit after a Stayman" (see here Quiz_20240423.jpg); this includes examples of the "convention 2012" which some of you may not have learnt yet. Please sign up with Jenny, with or without a partner, as soon as possible.

Snooker Coaching - Friday 26 April 6.30 pm
The next coaching session will be on Friday 26 April at 6.30 pm, with Roland and Shaunak Khot. (Same evening as TGI - Friday) If you are interested in these coaching sessions one Friday a month and have not yet signed up, contact . Feel free to give it a go, it could be your big break!

TGI Friday fun - next one on Friday 26 April
Relax, dance and enjoy a low-key Friday evening once a month; next is Friday 26 April from 8 pm to 11:30 pm. Bring something for a sucré or salé potluck The bar will remain open all evening. More info from section heads: Libby Macintyre-Davi and Georgina Marrison.

Works News - Basketball renovations
The basketball court/tennis wall renovation is now complete, at a total investment cost of €15K - New fence and gate installed last week - New court surface and drainage completed earlier in the winter. We are delighted to see some of our younger members taking advantage of this already. See the main article for some pictures.

Pool News
Following the EGM we are in discussion with the bank about financing options. We are working on options that take account of the payment needs on our existing loans, including the French government Covid loan, which will be fully repaid in 2026. We expect these discussions to be completed this month. If we have the green light, the pool work will take place from October 2024 to April 2025.

Taekwondo News - New sessions
We now have an adult and teenagers (over 10) one-hour Taekwondo lesson on Saturdays at 12:30 pm and a lesson for under-10s at 1:30 pm. The first lesson is free for anyone who wishes to try it. Taekwondo is much more than just a sport. It is a way of life. It instils confidence, motivation, goal setting, focus, Self-discipline, respect for others and confidence in your abilities. Mini Squash Launch
Jeanne Darrieus has volunteered to open a new Section: Mini Squash If your children have boundless energy and a desire to have fun, now is the perfect opportunity to enrol them in this adventure. Teatime at weekends
Teatime is an important cultural and traditional asset at the SAC. Every Saturday and Sunday from 4 to 5:30 PM the House Committee proposes biscuits from UK and other goodies with Janine's help once in a while. Please come and enjoy this traditional teatime along with a warm cup of tea.
