The work was financed 50% by Anke’s collection. Thank you to Linda, Jane and Christiane.

On Sunday morning, Ha and Georgina will be working on the terrace window boxes planting Spring pansies, helping hands always welcome!

Bridge News - Tuesday 13 February Tournament

image

The next tournament will be on Tuesday 13 February. Quiz at 2 pm, Tournament at 2.30 pm. Please sign up as soon with Jenny as soon as possible.
The theme of the quiz (see Quiz_2024-02-13.jpg) that we will be going through is "whether or not to open 1NT" or, in French, "Ouvrir ou non de 1SA?". It can be a tricky question as, more and more, we are tempted to open 1NT with a 5-card major and 15/16H, but should only do so in certain circumstances.

That has been an enormous amount of work done in emergency and within less than a week's time…

Paula Piantone RIP

image

It is with great regret that we inform you that Paola Piantone, a long-term SAC member, passed away on 10 January 2024 at the age of 81. Paola was visiting her former husband Mike Gibbons and his family on Maui, Hawaii and enjoyed more than two weeks of a winter paradise before being taken suddenly ill from a parasitic infection. She was given exceptional care in the Maui Hospital before peacefully passing away with Mike and his family by her side.
Paola was a member of the SAC for over 50 years and was a keen tennis player in her active years before turning to bridge and occasional use of the gym room.
