Tennis News: SAC men’s team wins promotion  The Standard tennis team secured promotion to Division 2 on Sunday, capping off an almost flawless campaign with four wins and a draw. The team — made up of Benjamin Sharp, Melvyn Cooke, Thimothée Sharp, Alban Vicarini, and Romain Vicarini — sealed qualification by defeating Rueil this weekend. Benjamin Sharp and Tim Sharp won their singles matches, and two doubles victories — a special mention for doubles specialist Melvyn — rounded off a great team performance! Children's News: Chess lessons - a new season has started The new chess season has started, and the lessons (on Saturdays) are reserved for members who have signed up; please don’t join the lessons if you haven’t paid. Those who expressed interest in chess lessons have divided the cost of the lessons among themselves. |
Plan your tennis weekend: Roland-Garros finals and Sunday Mix-In tennis A reminder of the fabulous tennis weekend in store for everyone at the Club. The Roland-Garros women's and men's finals will be on the big screen on Saturday and Sunday afternoons. And for those who would like to swing a racket themselves, don't forget the Sunday mix-in: 14:15 for 14.30 at the club. The weather looks fair. (Just register by court #1 at 2:15 for a 2:30 pm start (first come, first served). We'll assign partners so everyone gets a good game during the afternoon as well as a chance to meet other tennis players with some friendly women's, men's and/or mixed doubles. Pilates and Step & Sculpt classes paused, resuming Monday 9 June Pam is taking a week's break; normal service will resume on Monday, the 9th of June, with the usual Step at 10 and Sculpt at 11, and possibly, to make up for Saturday, Pilates at 12:15. Children's News: Rugbytots free class Saturday 14 June Rugbytots will be coming to the Club on Saturday June 14th to give FREE trial classes and speak to any interested parents. During sessions run by Rugbytots, children will develop their motor skills through fun games designed to develop their agility, dexterity and self-confidence. Children will learn how to pass and kick balls through fun games that appeal to their imagination. They will storm pirate ships, escape quicksand, explore the jungle, put out fires together and enjoy many sporting adventures. Our priority is for children to have fun and develop their self-confidence, while instilling a team spirit. See the main article for more information and pictures.

SAC AGM - Sunday 15 June 2025 3 PM.png) This year's Club AGM will be held in around 5 weeks on Sunday, the 15th of June at 3 pm. The meeting will be "in-person", at the Club. Voting will be conducted electronically. For new (and less new) Members of the Club, many elements around the AGM are defined in Article 10 of the Club Statutes, and Section 8 of the Club Rules, which are available at www.saclub.org in the “Members” section. Bridge News - Next Tournament Tuesday 17 Jiune The traditional individual tournament will take place on Tuesday, 17 June at 2.30 pm. As you know, you do not need to find a partner for this tournament; everyone will use a very simple bidding system and will change partners and opponents after every hand. The tournament will be followed by a cocktail and a prize-giving ceremony for the winners of our 3 different Cups. |

SAC Junior Cricket: the new season is under way If you haven't already enrolled, please fill out the SAC Junior Cricket Registration Form. Cricket News - 2025 Kent Tour 24/25/26 May Over the long UK Bank Holiday weekend (24-26 May), touring Captain Henry Colburn once again led the cricketers around the county of Kent on their annual tour. Though shorthanded, they ended up with two wins and a loss. (Losing against Shepway Stragglers, but willing against Band of Brothers and Chestfield. It's BBQ time again
Yes, time for BBQing! Please make your reservation well in advance at the bar or over the phone so the staff can prepare it. Pricing: BBQ: 28€ - includes charcoal and tools; Charge per person (plates, glasses, cutlery): 1€; Corkage: wine 4.50€; soft drinks 1€. The Club's closing times in May are 9 pm from Sunday to Thursday and 10 pm on Fridays and Saturdays. (A couple of hours later in summer.)

Ron Caseley RIP (11.11.1935 - 25.04.2025) We regret to announce that Ron Caseley died peacefully on 25 April in a care home in London. Our deepest sympathy goes to his daughters, Caroline and Annette, their husbands and Ron’s grandchildren. The funeral was held on Thursday, 29 May at 2 pm at Islington crematorium ( 278 High Road, East Finchley, LONDON N2 9AG).
