RIP Allen Butterworth (12/06/1956 - 06/09/2026) It is with deep sadness that we inform you that Allen Butterworth died peacefully on Sunday, the 6th of September 2026. He joined the club at his birth and stayed an active member for many years. At the age of thirty a complicated surgery deprived him of his freedom of movement. Allen is survived by his two sons, Alistair and Jordan, to whom we extend our deepest sympathy. A service in celebration of Allen’s life will be held at Saint Romain church in Sèvres 92310 on Friday 11th of September at 9h30. He will buried at 11h15 at “le nouveau cimetière” Avenue Pierre Grenier, Boulogne-Billancourt. |
Tennis News - Clay tennis courts - hot, dry weather Dear members, The hot, dry weather this year is taking its toll on our clay tennis courts. Given the conditions, members playing on the clay courts must take the extra time to water them thoroughly before and after play. If you are playing a long match, think of watering them between sets. Thank you,

Bridge News - Next tournament Tuesday 15 Sept The first tournament of the new season will be on Tuesday 15 September. We will start at 2 pm with a quiz (see main article) on the theme: "Re-opening bid in 4th seat after a 1NT opening?" ("Reveiller sur 1SA d'ouverture?). It's an interesting subject. The tournament will begin at 2.30 pm, and we will end with a little cocktail (€6).
I'm sure you realise it is time to renew your FFB licence. Jenny will get back to you very soon with the amount to pay this season; you can now renew directly on the Federation site under your "Espace personnel" or by bank transfer to the SAC Bridge Section account.

TENNIS & RACQUET FACILITIES UPDATEWorks commencing Monday, 7 September
We are pleased to inform members that improvement works to our tennis and racquet facilities will begin this Monday, 7 September.
Synthetic Court – Preparatory Works
The first phase will involve the removal of the surface damaged by last year’s storm, followed by the necessary works to prepare the court for its future development.
This preparation will keep open two options for enhancing our racquet sports facilities:
Option 1 – Expanding our racquet sports offering with two padel courts and one pickleball court with removable equipment, allowing it to be converted for badminton.
Option 2 – Reinstating the court as an artificial clay tennis court.
The final choice will be submitted to members for a vote at a forthcoming Extraordinary General Meeting (EGM). The date and further details will be communicated shortly.
Rose Garden Court
Immediately afterwards, work will begin on the clay court in front of the Rose Garden, which will be converted into a new floodlit artificial clay court.
The works are scheduled to take place from September to early October.
We thank all members for their understanding during this period of improvement and look forward to providing enhanced sporting facilities for everyone to enjoy.
