RIP Jean PAL-FRAIN 26 Feb 1946 - 3 July 2026

image

Jean Pal-Frain died last Friday, 3 July, following an illness. Jean was the widow of Ramon Pal, and a long-time member of the Club, and particularly an active member of the Bridge Section.
She will be cremated at the Crematorium du Parc (104 Rue de la Porte de Trivaux, 92140, CLAMART) at 12:15 on Friday, July 17th. This will be followed by some drinks nearby.

2026 AGM vote results

image

Thank you to the 170 people who voted in the AGM.  Here is a link to the full results of the vote.

  • All candidates were duly elected
  • All Motions were passed, including the change in Statutes to set up a reserve fund, which required a 2/3 majority

For the indicative vote on padel:

  • Over 60% Of Members support the introduction of padel to the Club
  • Only the "levy" option comes close to a majority, with 73 people in favour, versus 81 against. While a substantial minority would support a Padel Founding Member approach (where a subset of Members contribute more for advantaged access), not enough Members (only 13) indicate interest to actually be a Founding Member.  Based on this, it would not generate anywhere near sufficient funds.
  • Organic and "pay-to-play" financing could only get limited support (20-25% of people voting)

The MC is reflecting on these results and will return to Members with a proposal for an up/down vote in the coming months.

Tennis News - Clay tennis courts - hot, dry weather

image
Dear members,

The hot, dry weather this year is taking its toll on our clay tennis courts.

Given the conditions, it is essential that members playing on the clay courts take the extra time to water them thoroughly before and after play. If you are playing a long match, think of watering them between sets.

Thank you,

The Tennis Committee
