Children are very much a part of life at the SAC. We cater for all ages, from the youngest to older children and adolescents who are coached in our individual sports sections.
Children’s sports and activities take place mainly on Wednesday afternoons and Saturdays.
For younger children, we have a playroom in the clubhouse with books and toys next to the main room, and an enclosed playground with swings, slides, playhouses, a sandpit, and picnic tables.
There is also a warm paddling pool which is open from late spring until the autumn.
For slightly older children, 5-8 year olds, there is Mini Football for boys and girls on Wednesday afternoons: ball skills, coordination, team playing with our long term coach Didier.
Junior Football (8+) has a very active U11-s team and U-13’s team – training takes place on Wednesdays and/or Saturdays. There are matches with outside clubs that take place on Saturdays. Older boys train as well.
Junior Squash – active training and matches on Wednesdays and Saturdays. An excellent sport for girls and boys.
Junior Tennis – coaching on Wednesday and Saturdays. Interclub and external matches, round-robin games on Friday evenings with our Friday Night Tennis.
Tennis and Games Camps are held during the Toussaint autumn, Easter and early and late summer holidays.
Swimming – the pool opens in May and private lessons can be arranged with the lifeguard.
Junior Cricket – Under 11s for boys and girls with an emphasis on fun and participation. Junior Cricket training for over 11s with serious coaching with the aim of joining the adult team as young players.
Other sports played at the SAC include ping pong, with lots of spontaneous round robins and matches throughout the year, and a mini snooker table for apprentice potters…
Throughout the year specific events are planned, including a traditional Easter Egg hunt on Easter Monday, Hallowe’en, Guy Fawkes, Christmas parties.
Other activities include an overnight camp-out and barbecue on the sports field, a swimming gala, and our sports day and Highland Games in June. Dads and Lads cricket matches, Dads and Boys Football matches, Friday Night Tennis Games for all…
The club is a wonderful place where children are able to play, be active, be coached in an enclosed environment – they can take part in a number of activities in one place and be in the fresh air all in one afternoon – for example on a Wednesday, your child can have lunch at the club, a tennis lesson at 2pm, followed by football at 3pm. Another child can play squash, and then dance fitness. Meanwhile, the parents can be playing tennis, squash, speed walking around the grounds, reading a book in the rose garden, having a cup of tea with friends or having a quiet nap on the sofa.
Children’s birthday parties can also be arranged.
