With the weather set fair after Saturday’s wash-out, Andrew J. won the toss and elected to bat. Things began well for Standard as Henry and Andrew put on 40 runs in the first 10 overs. After a sharp run-out, Andrew departed and was quickly followed by Praneeth, who was caught on the long-off boundary. This bought Sharva to the crease, whose fine stroke play helped accelerate the run rate before he departed for 49. After Henry retired on 68 runs in order to make tea, Standard’s tail wagged with some useful contributions from the lower order leaving the opposition requiring 242 runs to win.

With the wind in their sails after a great batting performance, SAC’s bowlers knew that a victory beckoned if only they could limit the opposition to ones and twos. With a plethora of spinners at his disposal, captain Andrew turned to Money and Hilal after both Sachin and Shaunak maintained their line and length to frustrate the opposition. Operating from the tennis court end and the forest end respectively, they bowled exceptionally with the latter taking 5 wickets! With the opposition 9 down for 139 runs, Praneeth finished off proceedings with his first delivery of the match! Overall, a dominating performance in all departments for SAC, who will be looking to finish the 2022 season with victory in the last two weekends.

The result – a 103-run victory for Standard Athletic CC
