SAC finished a fabulously entertaining 2022-23 season with a hard-fought game against FIFFA, a physical side that tends to take no prisoners.

The home team struggled in the first half, to trail 3-0 at the interval, but, as commentators like to say, it was a game of two halves. In the second half, tireless defence led by Gerald Strouts and Ingacio Aguirre and great work by stand-in goalkeeper Paul de Rosen kept the FIFFA forwards at bay.

SAC were dangerous on the break, with Valentin Mignot and Alex Curtin delivering precision passes out of defence to set up good chances for Elias Appert, Madiouma, and Arnaud Paquier who saved SAC’s honour with a well deserved late goal to leave the final score at 1-4.

The match brought to an end a great season for SAC. The handful of victories was a big improvement over the previous year.  But nearly all the games were highly competitive, often high scoring, setting up the team for an even better season in 2023-24. The teenage team members are coming into their own.

And huge thanks need to go to Laurent Brault for his organisation and his fair-play refereeing in the face of some occasionally theatrical visiting players.

This coming Sunday, the 23rd, all members are welcome to participate in our end-of-season family matches - for parents, children and other lovers of the beautiful game. Registration for the matches is at 10:30, games start at 11. See you there.
