Veterans Championships
260 men and women players descended upon Antibes May 8-12 to compete in age categories ranging from 35+ to 80+, a real festival of squash.
Competing in a nearly full field of 31 players, and the largest draw of the championships, including all regional champions and qualifiers, Sean Lafleur won the bronze medal in the national veterans championship for 60+ men.
In the quarterfinals, Sean came back from 0-2 to beat Pascal Lavielle, last year's silver medalist from Reims, 3-2. In the semi finals, Sean again came back from 0-2, only to lose after an hour of play (3-2) with 5-time champion Jean-Luc DeZeeuw of Saint Cloud.

Team 1 captain Greg Russo competed in his first veterans championships and placed 13th of 17 in the 35+ age category. He lost in the first round to the eventual champion, and then went on to win a couple of challenging plate matches.
Corporate Championships
20 company teams competed In the national corporate team championships at UCPA Meudon on the weekend of May 22. Our team's top-ranked player, Jean-Guillaume Baylin won a silver medal with the team from Safran. David Moore, SAC squash chairman, won a bronze medal playing with the team for Société Générale.

Sean, David and Jean-Guillaume are all registered to play in the Queen's Cup on June 8, along with several other team players. Come and support them all as they match up with some of the top players from Ile de France. We will also be welcoming "home" the club's longtime team member Nicolas Rosset, who now lives and plays in Nantes.
