The weather is fine, and the pool project is advancing rapidly. We are still planning on a reopening for the first week of June.
As a reminder, the key elements of the project:
- Our old pool needed to be replaced for a number of reasons
- Built in the 1960s
- Filtration system processing water at around ¼ of current norms leading to the need for the fence (to limit the amount of debris entering the pool). Filtration system so old that there was a major risk of breakdown in mid-season
- Liner heavily cracked, with major risk that it could suffer an irreparable break at any time
- Technical building in very poor state
- The major elements of the current project
- Complete replacement of all filtration aspects
- New, larger technical building
- Update to current norms, with more powerful skimmer and injectors and 4 x filtration capacity
- Repair of the concrete pool structure (in which major cracks were discovered when the liner was removed)
- Use of “gel coat” finish (versus plastic liner) for improved “look and feel” and easy maintenance
- New “stepped” entry to make it easier to get in and out
- Surrounds
- Removal of the interior fence
- New brushed concrete finish around the pool
- Complete replacement of all filtration aspects
All is on track for an early June reopening as per our last report. This means that we still expect to come in 2 weeks behind the original schedule and 3% over initial budget (mainly for repairs to cracked concrete).

Early May update
This week we can see that the metal reinforcement has been put in prior to the pouring of concrete: this is true across the whole site.
- The first picture shows the 5 new installations as part of the water treatment system
- The kids’ pool is also ready for its concrete surround
- Our third photo shows the new steps and also that the old painted surface is being sanded down in preparation for the new “gelcoat” surface
