Our annual Old Rackets Tournament took place under the last rays of summer sunshine on Sunday, 21 September with the Marrison and Prat families carrying off the fashion and sporting trophies.
Under the masterful organisation of Philippe Ayme-Jouve, it was Benoit Prat and his nephew Antoine (see photo below) who triumphed in the tennis final. Benoit and Antoine were among the four players with the most games after five rounds of closely contested mix-in doubles, characterised by elegantly swung wooden rackets and spiritedly thwacked traditional white tennis balls. Unlucky runners-up were Kevin Jackson and Henrik Jessen.
As for the most elegantly dressed racketeers, it was Georgina Marrison with son Hugo who stole the show in their 1920s-style tennis kit. Suzanne Lenglen and Fred Perry would have been proud.
A big thank you to all who took part and to Mario Figueira de Ornelas for his super organisation of the Classic Car Day, providing an excellent backdrop -- among other things! -- to our tennis tournament,
