Please read the main article for the Handicap results of the December tournament, featuring a huge score for Anne (R.) and Naomi (who very kindly joined us at the last minute to make up the numbers) in North-South with 67.5% and another big score for Christine and Marie-Claire in East-West with 63.83%! Also in the 60s, Patrick and Luc, 2nd in EW with 60.67% and 2nd in NS, Nicole and Jean-Paul with 55.83%. The nationwide results will be sent out in due course by the FFB. The answers to the quiz are also in the main article.
Many thanks to Maureen, Joan and Anne for their help in organising the tournament, and to Christine and Carole for their invaluable assistance with the cocktail, and to all of the players for participating and helping with the clearing away!
The next tournament is planned for Tuesday, 20 January at 2.30 pm; this time it will be preceded by the Bridge Section's Annual General Meeting at 2 pm. Jenny will send out a quiz in due course and will review the answers before play starts.
Great turnout - 86 attendees. The Queen’s room had beautifully decorated tables, and the food was delicious. Huge thanks to Mario, Rym, Carole and the bar staff dream team: Mattea, Gabrielle, Theo and Thomas.
See the main article for some pictures.
We had our annual Christmas Carol singing on Sunday, 14 December at 5 pm. See the main article for some pictures and videos.
Please go to the main article to see some pictures of last Sunday's Arts and Crafts Atelier.
This past weekend, we held our Squash Challenge at the SAC, and we were delighted to see a strong turnout from our Squash Members, spreading both team spirit and early holiday cheer. Although the SAC narrowly fell to Montigny’s first squash team, the match was as close as a Christmas countdown—175 points to 146.
We were fortunate to have our young rising stars, Lucas and Sebastian, light up the scoreboard like a pair of festive ornaments. Montigny’s visit also gave us the chance to congratulate their player, Jérôme Rideau, last year’s King’s Cup winner and a certified “arbitre fédéral” for the French league. Jérôme kindly reminded us of the importance of keeping our courts in top condition for safe and enjoyable play. With that in mind, we’ve requested quotes from contractors to assess the squash courts, in coordination with the ongoing roofing work.
We look forward to seeing you back on court soon!
Wishing you a very Merry Christmas from the Squash Section! 🎄🥇🎾
