Coronavirus: COVID-19 latest

In accordance with the most recent government declarations, from Monday 28 September the bar will close at 10 pm every evening and the Gym Room and Squash Courts will remain closed for a period of two weeks. Contact the Step/pilates and Yoga coaches for information about their classes.
The marquee will not be available from Monday. In the grounds, gatherings should be of fewer than 10 people (including children).
Masks are compulsory both Inside the clubhouse and on the grounds.
Keep your distance, wear a mask, wash your hands…
Be safe.

Football News - last weekend's matches against Vésinet Sport Club International.

The SAC adult and junior football teams had mixed fortunes against Vésinet over the weekend of the 12/13th October. SAC’s U-14 team saved the club’s honour with a tense 2-1 victory against Vésinet. The visitors proved too strong for the men’s team despite a valiant second-half comeback: final score 8-1. SAC U-9s also battled hard but succumbed  7-2. See also the main article for links to a huge selection of photos put together by Gerald Strouts! Next Sunday the men take on the Kerala Tuskers.

Bridge News - 16th October

Attached are the results of Tuesday 15th's tournament. Warm congratulations to Anne and Henri, 1st in NS with 63.13% and to Richard and Leon, 1st in EW with 60.62%; 2nd in NS - Francoise and Alain with 58.13% and in EW Jane and Nicole with 58.13%. Snooker News - Registration for 2019/20 Tournament opens 19th October

The annual Club Snooker Tournament will be starting soon and registrations will be open from Saturday 19th October until Sunday 17th November. All adult members, Ladies, Men, Veterans and Juniors (over 12) are welcome to take part in the different tournaments (singles and doubles).

Football News - Season Opener 6th Oct - SAC vs Los Pipos

The 2019/2020 football season opens with a match against Los Pipos on Sunday 6th October. The section is always on the lookout for new talent, so don't hesitate to email Laurent Brault at if you want to join. Any and all skill levels are welcome!

Football News - 10th October

The adult football team lost 1-2 gainst Los Pipos last Sunday. It was a very nice game on a lovely pitch and under the sun. Henry Colburn scored the SAC goal.
This Sunday's game is against Vésinet Sport Club International. 

Bridge News - 3rd October

 Two dates for your diaries: first Workshop on Friday 11th October and the opening dinner and evening tournament will be on Tuesday 15th October. 

Bridge News - 9th October

Note that the Workshop on Friday 11th will start at 10:45 sharp, still room for participants to make up 5 complete tables! There's still time to sign up for the dinner/ tournament on Tuesday 15th. Just a reminder that it's FFB Bridge Licence time - at the increased price of 56€. 

Saturday 21st is Rugby Day at the Club!

Come and enjoy a Rugby World Cup breakfast in the Clubhouse at starting at 9:15 while watching France - Argentina on the big screen. Then at 11, join in the Touch Rugby training around the cricket pitch for parents and kids (from 5 and up), while working up an appetite for lunch! (More info from

Golf News - Autumn Vase (14th September) Results

The 2019 Autumn Vase was played in beautiful weather, with the unfortunate side effect of leaving the course very dry and quite difficult to play in places. Overall Winner (Best Stableford score) was Jérome Chaplin, 42 points (from Men's 2nd Series). Best SAC scorer was John MacCallum, 38 points, 3rd in Men's 2nd Series, followed closely by Jenny Pratt, 1st in Ladies' 2nd series with 36 points.. See the FFG Results page 

TOUCH RUGBY - a new sport comes to SAC!

We are pleased to announce that from the 21st of September, we will be organising Touch Rugby sessions at SAC, open to all members, young and old, male and female, thanks to the initiative of Romain Boudot.

More details will follow but please put down 11 o'clock on Saturday the 21st in your diaries as an exciting sporting date - and one which just happens to coincide with the start of 2019 World Cup Rugby tournament in Japan.

Golf Section News - 21st October

The Section had a Patsome Competition on Saturday 19th October, won by Sue Hall and John McCallum. The Centenary Cup match against Villarceaux is CANCELLED for this year. 

Golf News - 2nd June

First please note that the Centenary Cup against Villarceaux has been postponed until the 19th October. A section competition will be held on the 22nd of June instead. The 2019 Mixed Matchplay is on its way (see current state here). (First round matches should be finished by the end of June. 

Bridge News - 5th June - Prize-giving / Dinner / Tournament

Highlights of the evening included the top two spots of the Natanson Cup going to the Jacques - Joyce (1st 38 points) and Claudes (2nd 37 points). Anne Raynaud gained top honours in the Tournament with 59.52%, with Verzella and Claudia tied for 2nd place. 

Golf News - 19th May - Scores of the 39th Spring Cup

The scores (gross and net) of the 54 players in yesterday's Spring Cup copied from the FFG may be seen in the main article. Congratulations to Louis Anceauxoverall winner of the Castrol Cup, with a gross score of 34 points and to Spring Cup (Best Net) winner: Bernard Mazadier (40); Financial Times Cup (Best Ladies' Gross): Prudence Jones (19) and Best Ladies' Net: Caroline Bahin (41). The best SAC scorer was Emile Freiha with 36 net / 21 gross.

Golf News - 13th May

The Golf Section held its AGM last Friday 10th May, during which the 6 stalwart committee members were confirmed. This Saturday is the 39th Spring Cup at Villarceaux; the Section's next major event will be the President's Cup on the 6th of July. The Autumn Weekend, organised by James Moore, will be at the Golf de Touraine over the weekend of the 26/28th September. Read on to see some photos taken at the recent Golf Weekend outing to Dieppe. 

Bridge News - 7th May Tournament results

Warm congratulations to the big winners of Tuesday's tournament: in East-West Annick Gruselle and Alain Raynaud with 67.5% and in North-South Joyce Jaques and Joan Cosgrove with 60.62%! Very good play too by the 2 pairs who tied for 2nd place in NS - Ian Jones and Jean-Philippe Loyer and Jean Palfrain and Ghislaine Dubau with 57.5% and in EW Sally Buswell and Jenny Pratt with 56.88%. 

Bridge News - 20th May

The next item on the Bridge agenda is the Workshop - on Friday 24th May (see exercises attached to main article). Followed on June 4th by Prize-giving, Dinner and traditional Individual Tournament (a 'more the merrier' event open to players of all levels and great fun). The last event of the season, the Workshop is on Friday 14th June. Please also note that there are 6 brand new bridge tables - so please take very great care when moving them about!
