SAC’s soccer all-stars defy mud and drizzle in pre-Christmas festival of football last Sunday 12 December -

Sunday, at the SAC, it call came down to the referee’s final whistle and whether the Paquier Reds heard it before they scored a last-gasp equaliser against the Strouts Blues to snatch a 6-6 draw in the tournament final.
Not that it mattered. A strong turnout of adults, teenagers and pre-teens set up a fabulous end-of-year, roughly 6-a-side tournament of four teams - a showcase of stunning goals, plenty of slipping and sliding, some gravity-defying goalkeeping, and good spirits all round. Commiserations to the Parkin Yellows and De Rosen Greens for missing out on the final. Where was the VAR when you needed it? (Read on for photo of the participants)
Wishing all at the SAC, footballers or not, a fit and prosperous festive season and New Year. See you in 2022 with your boots on!

Cricket News - Saturday 19 June - Installation of the Andrew Macintyre Bell

On Saturday 19 June we made a presentation to Andrew Macintyre in recognition of his 14 years of service to SAC Junior Cricket. To commemorate that we have attached a bell to the pavilion and a commemorative plaque. Many of you will know that a bell is rung at Lords before the start of each and every session and we thought it a good way to record Andrews's efforts into the Club's history. See the main article for a photo of Andrew and the Bell.

Bridge News - September 2022

It's time to start playing tournament bridge again at the SAC, and we're proposing to hold a first traditional Individual Tournament on Tuesday 27 September, beginning at 2.30 pm.
The easy part of this tournament is that you do not need to find a partner, but, of course, you are welcome to bring along as many friends as you like, so please do let Jenny () know (with a copy to Anne () if you can take part. Currently, there are enough players for 5 tables, but it's still possible to sign up as there is no limit to the number of tables we can cater for, provided we are a multiple of 4; and again, you do not need a partner!
At the end of the tournament, Raymond Natanson will be presenting the Oliver Langhorne Fair Play Trophy, the Henri Natanson Cup as well as the Freddie Chakour Trophy to the winner of our afternoon tournament. And this will be followed by a buffet campagnard, offered by the Section.
It is also time to renew your licences - the price being the same as previously, i.e. €57 (cheque made out to the SAC Bridge Section). A renewal form is attached to the main article, but only needs filling out if your personal details have changed.
Please let Jenny know if you'd like to participate this coming season in the Interclub competition!
Also attached to the main article are the provisional minutes of the 2021 AGM.
