Pool etiquette

  • We are all excited that we now have a modern pool, open for the rest of the summer. So that everyone can enjoy it, the following is a reminder of the etiquette.
    • Above all, and as with everything about our Club, please behave consistently with this being a shared second home. Have fun while respecting others.  If there is “friction”, please work it out in a spirit of mutual respect
    • Some specific etiquette rules will be re-posted around the pool as a reminder
    • Some of the main ones
      • Please, no food and drink in the pool area – this attracts wasps which can sting you (or other Members).
      • The changing rooms are the right place for changing.  Please do not do this in the pool area.
      • No dirty clothes or other items in the pool – 2 examples from last weekend:
        • People jumping into the pool in their athletic gear after doing sport in intense heat, without having showered
        • Toddlers being placed in the pool in their nappies (diapers, in American English)
      • General consideration for others with regard to water games, water pistols, jumping in near swimmers, etc.. This affects safety and also comfort.
    • Your safety and that of your children is your responsibility at all times. Please do not let kids get out of your sight.
    • There is no “Club police” on duty.  We are all responsible for the norms of good behaviour, which means we can share this place.  You are encouraged to work things out.  If another Member is concerned about etiquette and raises this with you, please be respectful.
  • Thanks to everyone for behaving with the right SAC spirit.  If you do see something of concern, please do raise it with the Management Committee.

2025-26 SAC Membership Status and Category Changes

The sending out and processing of annual subscriptions put a heavy burden on the Club’s limited (and mainly volunteer) administrative resources. Changes in Membership status or categories, when they occur after the initial fee request has been sent out, lead to “double work”. This happened last year for almost 40% of our fee requests.

To help us improve efficiency, we would like to change the process this year and capture as many changes as possible ahead of issuing fee requests.  Please let us know by June 30th of any changes in membership category that you wish to make for you or any member of your family; e.g., changes between Social and Full.  Please email your changes to .

Please note that category changes that are simply due to age are handled directly by the system and no request needs to be made in this case.

Many thanks in advance for your help with this.

The Management Committee

...and you introduce them to the Club before the August holiday (deadline for new Member sign-up, 31/7/2025), you will receive a discount on 2025/6 Membership
(€250 for the first Full adult, €100 for the first Young Adult (under 40 years old); €150 for the second Full Adult, €75 for the second and subsequent Young Adults, up to a maximum of €400).

Tennis News: SAC Wins Opening Match in Division 3 on Sunday 27 April against Sèvres

The Standard tennis team claimed victory in their first Division 3 departmental match with a 4–2 win over Sèvres, whose players were ranked between 15/2 and 15/4. The win was secured thanks to three dominant singles performances: Romain Vicarini (6–1, 6–1), Benjamin Sharp (6–1, 6–1), and Alban Vicarini (6–0, 6–3). The Vicarini duo also clinched the decisive doubles point. Timothée Sharp and Melvyn Cooke were very unlucky in their doubles, losing in the super tie break.
The team will travel to Rueil this Saturday afternoon for their second match of the season. Rueil will be a tougher test, with players ranked 15 and higher. But with a strong team this year, the club is aiming for promotion to the next division. Members who feel they can compete at this level are more than welcome to join the team.

Tennis News - making the most of great weather, fabulous tennis on our clay courts

A big thank you to all those who took part in the season-opening friendly tournament last Sunday. What a pleasure it was to be back on our clay courts in such brilliant spring weather!
Note also the Team's win over Sèvres last Sunday (See here).
We're not sure who to credit for the sunshine, but for the courts, a big thank you goes to Caroline Lambert, who looks after the grounds, Philippe Ayme-Jouve on the TC and Roland Tchertoff on the MC for all the work getting them ready.
With those tennis muscles flexed, we hope everyone is warmed up for some more organised friendly tennis, with our first Sunday Tennis Mix-In taking place this Sunday, 4 May. Just register by court #1 at 14:15 for a 14:30 start (first come, first served). We'll assign partners so everyone gets a good game during the afternoon as well as a chance to meet other tennis players with some friendly women's, men's and/or mixed doubles.
On the competition front, thanks to all those who have entered the Club's internal knock-out competition. If you have not received notice of your first opponents in the different draws, you will do so soon -- look out for emails from tournament organisers Christine Butterworth and/or Victoria Migliore. The knock-out tournament runs through May and June. Players are responsible for arranging their own matches and letting the organisers know the results. You'll get full details by email.

Children's News: Yoga for children Saturday 26 April

On Saturday, 26 April at 11:15 to 12:15, there will be a trial yoga class for children.
Octavia (a born and bred Londoner) from Yogaventuriers https://yogaventuriers.carrd.co/ will be coming and teaching in English. The class will be designed around a story to keep little minds focused. First, a book reading, then going through the story using yoga poses and movement. The classes are lighthearted and fun, getting kids moving in a focused way that they can carry over to different activities. The kids get to practice their English with a native speaker, and we all benefit from creatively moving our bodies. We will provide yoga mats, and this trial class is free for members. If it goes well, we hope to introduce a class every Saturday from September.
This Saturday's Yoga class is currently fully subscribed. Please let know if you'd like to get on the waiting list for future classes.
